Welcome to Kids' Classics

Kids' Classics is a music experience that brings together some of Ireland’s leading professional musicians in an educational, fun and interactive experience for children.

The Pilot Project

Piloted in 2009 and funded by the National Concert Hall, Kids' Classics brought monthly workshops into three main children’s hospital schools and wards in Dublin. Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin, Temple Street Children’s University Hospital, and The National Children’s Hospital, Tallaght.

The Pilot project was very successful and with the support of The National Concert Hall and the hospitals staff, Kids' Classics has continued to make monthly visits to the Children’s Hospital’s.

Kids' Classics have also grown to include visit the Schoolrooms and wards of Beaumont Hospital and University Hospital Cork.

Workshops

Workshops introduce some of the Great Classical Composers with the help of professional musicians dressed in period costume through storytelling and performing while offering the children the opportunity to play handheld percussion instruments with the musicians for some fun.

Workshops Offered include:

  • Beethoven’s Bad Hair Day
  • Tchaikovsky’s Christmas Party
  • A Day in the Life of Mozart

    • Other composers featured include Vivaldi, Mendelssohn and Handel, as well as workshops on American Music, The Carnival of the Animals and Peter and the Wolf.
